T-Forum Moves to Malta

Tourism Intelligence Forum, or t-Forum, has moved to Malta as part of a strategic agreement with the Malta Tourism Observatory.

The agreement was signed at Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) offices today. A  new library of more than 1,000 tourism publications – donated to the observatory by t-Forum professor Jafar Jafari - was also inaugurated.

The Tourism Intelligence Forum is a global institution dedicated to bridging tourism theory and practice by fostering knowledge exchange across the tourism sector.

The organisation’s plans include “the launch a periodical, The Bridge, summarising top academic journal articles for tourism industry decision makers worldwide.”  The forum will also be organising an international conference in Malta next year, in conjunction with the 72nd UN Tourism Commission for Europe, which will also be hosted by Malta.

Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Ian Borg expressed his support for the initiative, describing it as evidence of Malta “continuing to punch above its weight”.

Prof Jafari thanked Malta for embracing the forum and expressed his “strong belief that this collaboration will play a major role in enhancing the dissemination of knowledge within the international tourism community for many years to come”, the ministry noted.

MTA CEO Carlo Micallef said the agreement added a “relevant and important dimension” to the authority’s portfolio.
